The og sma harts deck was originally released in 1989… and the new element deck in 2009… i guess its fair to say that its a 20th anniversary re-issue!?! Damn thats a long time ago… i don’t even think that most of these kids(shredders) were even born yet… ha ha! looking at the 2 decks, things have definitely evolved…yet baring the same essence from our board kulture aesthetics…

I needed some supplies for the “Sneaker Pimp” show next week, so I went to “33 and a third” graff supply shop and ended up at the CHAKA show. I forgot all about it cause I was working on a job. The show was crowded as fuck. I rolled up with Green and linked up with Dream and Risk. It was cool 2 c Chaka up 2 his old antics, rather than tryin’ 2 do some art bullshit. Sick Chaka tags galore! My favorite piece was the map with all the spots he killed. Never got around to seeing Chaka though, Green and I had to get back to the cut and get back 2 work.
I did get 2 grab some spray paint as well. What is this world coming to? A tagger in a gallery, artists doing art on the streets and I have to buy spray paint from an art gallery…go figure.

May 1, 2009- “The B-Boy is the physical Graffiti artist, he is the lyrical and kinetic scratch, he is the break beat manifest, the most modern of all dancers.” Fifty8 Gallery presents B-Line B-Boy Drawings and Sculpture the anticipated solo exhibition of renown sculptor, painter, Carlos Mare139 Rodriguez. Inspired by his childhood era connection to the B-Boy culture this unique series of works are a study in capturing the dynamic movement of the ‘break’ dancer in what he calls ‘linear still frames’. Mare139 provokes us to consider through his simplification of shapes and gestures what gravity defying kinetics are involved in the dance form.
